Higher Mobility Founder, Michael Walsh
Michael Walsh is a US Air Force veteran with over 25 years of experience in the elevator and lift industry. He truly is an entrepreneur at heart, and a passionate learner of anything new and technologically challenging. In his work for Higher Mobility, he combines his life experiences and expertise, with his interest in helping people with mobility challenges and his devotion to community service.
Walsh, a Certified Age In Place Specialist from the National Association of Home Builders, is a locally-recognized authority often called upon as an expert regarding matters related to a range of elevator and lift issues:
- elevator installations,
- performance and maintenance evaluations,
- building and modification pre-purchase analysis,
- architectural design plan reviews,
- bid assistance, equipment surveys,
- contract reviews and negotiations,
- risk assessments,
- safety code compliance and enforcement,
- union regulation and code guidance modernizations, and
- providing professional witness testimonies and accident and insurance inspections for attorneys.
Walsh is a third-generation elevator guy, and the first business owner in his family. He is a founder and owner of three companies: Higher Mobility, helps disabled veterans and people with a range of mobility disabilities gain greater freedom of movement and accessibility in their home; Allied Elevator, a commercial elevator company serving architects, builders, general contractors and construction firms; and Castlehale Consulting, a mobility/vertical accessibility transportation consulting firm.

Community service and volunteerism is a major part of Walsh’s life, and he frequently lends his expertise and services to those in need. He is an avid cyclist and in 2008 formed the “Going Vertical” cycling team in Philadelphia. In 2009, he provided elevator consultation and services for “Homes for Our Troops.” In 2010, he co-founded a non-profit organization with the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #5 of Philadelphia called, “A Lift for a Veteran.” A Lift For A Veteran donates residential elevators and services to United States veterans. He is also active with Habitat for Humanity, the National Multiple Sclerosis society and the American Cancer Society.
Walsh began his career serving in the United States Air Force as a firefighter. He was stationed in Alaska, Honduras and New Jersey. While in the service, he completed an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science/Pyrotechnics, followed by a Bachelor’s of Science in Business from Penn State University, in 1996. Michael resides in Glassboro, NJ, with his wife Margaret and three children.
